My Husbands Dreadlocks

Services I Offer

I Love Dreadlocks. That is no surprise, though. And what I want to do with this love? Well, your dreadlocks, of course! Here is the information about my services, as well as the pricing. Pricing is not set in stone, because I will base my charging off of three things: the texture of your hair, what kind of dreadlocks you want (partial, full head, mixed, etc. Like, I won't charge you full head price if you only want 4 dreadlocks), and your budget (I'm not looking to kill your wallet, I can be reasonable.)

The first thing I will do when you come to me for dreadlocks is sit down and discuss with you everything you need to know. I know that in this blog I explain a lot, but I will go over everything anyways, and anything you dont remember from our meeting will still be here in this blog for you to refer to.We will also discuss what you want, how you want it, and how you will get it. I will give you the low down of how I will do things, and will have you help me map out what exactly it is you want me to do.

After we discuss this, I will wash your hair with a residue free shampoo, towel dry your hair (I don't want any damage to be done to your hair by using a blow dryer.), and then I will give your hair a once over with a brush to make sure things are un-tangled enough for me to start the next step.

Next I will separate your hair into sections, and I will be checking with you about the size of the sections because the sectioning determines the thickness of the dreadlock. For the most part, dreadlock sectioning tends to be done in 1 inch by 1 inch squares, but if you have any preferences or specifics, please let me know, and I will see what I can do.

After sectioning, I will braid all the sectioned pieces and leave them that way for a little while, so that the braid sets in and makes the texture more frizzy and wavy.

Now is the time that I will start placing the knots in your hair. I will undo each braid as I go along knotting your hair. When I take out the braid, I will gently pick apart the braid with a metal back combing comb, and then tease it slightly to make it more "fro" like and poofy. Then I will begin knotting, using the Twist and Rip method by default (however, if you decide to go with a different method, I can do the back combing method as well. These are the only kinds of methods I work with, because they are the two most successful types of dreadlocking that I know of.).

After the knots are in place, I will palmroll your new little beauties to help smooth things out, and then I will palm roll again with some dreadlocking gel.

The final step is payment and my gift to you. I will give you a compilation of recipes for sprays that will be beneficial for your dreadlocks, and then I will ask you how you feel about your new knots. I call them knots because in the beginning they are only knots, dreadlocks are what happen when those knots are fully formed and matured, and it will take months for your knots to be officially dreadlocks. The pictures below are of my husband, Jonathan, after I did his knots.

ain't he just a cutie pie? :3

Then, we shall part ways and I will request that you come back to me in 6 months so I can see how things came along. I will also give you my cell phone number so you can text me if you have any problems or questions that come up. And trust me, you just might. Dreadlock journeys are at times frustrating, and sometimes you feel like you should just brush them out and give up, but please dont do that. Chances are, whatever your problem is with your new baby locks, I can either solve it, or help you cope with it. Don't be afraid to ask for help!

Happy Dreading and Hope to see you soon!
