Decorating and Styling Time!!!

Ok, now that all the maintenance and work is out of the way, lets get decorating!

There are many things you can do when it comes to decorations, anything from beads, wraps, dangly earrings (i dont recommend doing it all the time because it make your dreadlocks all unhappy from the holes being punched into them, but on special occasions you can take really pretty dangly earrings and push them into the dreadlock so that it dangles from it and looks very nice), hair dye, feathers, rope, and anything else you can stick in your hair.

I personally use a lot of beads in my hair, as well as hair dye, but again, things are good in moderation. If you leave beads in for too long, or if they are too tight, they can damage the dreadlocks and make them weak in the areas that the beads were. And everyone knows why too much hair dye is bad, right? However, hair dye and bleach, in moderation, is actually good for the dreads because it roughs them up and makes the hairs have more friction. Just need to make sure you get all the dye/bleach out, or all that wonderful friction turns into limp spaghetti noodles of yuck. Pretty much just smooth the hair dye or bleach over the outside of each dreadlock you want dyed (noone is going to be seeing the inside of the dreadlock, so why bother squeezing it inside the dread?) leave it on for normal time, and wash VERY VERY VERY well. Voila.

Dread wraps are good and bad for the dreadlock as well. The wrap helps hold the dreadlock together, but often the dreadlock will eat the wraps and they will be a total hassle to remove.

Here are some (sadly) uncredited pictures I found on google, hope you find them inspiring (and if you know who I should credit, PLEASE let me know. K? Thanks :3)

There are also tams, headbands, bandanas, and other lovely scarf type things you can cover your dreadlocks with, such as:

So, I hope this about wraps (hahaha pun intended but not intentional) things up in terms of decorations. Hope you enjoy, comment below any other types of decorations and headwear you like to wear, and if you wanna email me about any questions you may have, my email is lilipaddd9996@gmail.com

Happy Dreading and Decorating!

p.s. I forgot to discuss updos and styles. Honestly, you can do anything normal hair can do, and I suggest youtubing styling dreadlocks, because there are some AMAZING updos in the dreadlock world. :3
