Howdy!
So I know I said you could look up styling stuff on YouTube, but whatever, I will post two ideas, just to get it ya rolling.
So, without further ado:
#1
Ponytail
Ponytail
Obviously you should know how to put your hair in a ponytail using a hair elastic, but did you know you can use your dreads as a hair elastic? Simply take the two dreads that are directly at the base of your neck (usually there are two dreads directly beside each other at the base of your skull) and separate those from the rest of your hair. Then gather the rest of your dreads as if you were gonna put them in a pony tail, but instead of using an elastic, take the left dread (out of the two you separated) and wrap it up and around the left side of your pony tail while your holding the rest of the dreads, then take the right dread and do the same so the two are wrapped around. After this, simply tie the two dreads together in a bow or simple tie (don't double knot or you may have a permanent pony tail, lol) and voila! Ponytail.
#2
Braids
Braids
Really, I won't get into all the different kinds of braids cuz I could put you to sleep with all the different kinds, but braiding dreads are very easy. One warning, though, is if you leave your dreads in a braid (or any up do, for that matter) then you run the risk of creating weak spots in your dreadlocks, so don't go to sleep with your hair up, or leave it in for a while. If you intend to leave your hair up for long periods of time, just every once in a while take your hair down, shake it out, and redo the style again.
I'm not gonna keep going, simply because you really can do almost anything that normal hair can do, with the exception of tiny braids and long smooth hair (which comes with the territory of rough, knotted, thick dreads).
Happy Dreading and Updos!
