Well This Stinks

Hello Lovelies ,

Unfortunately, since I am having problems in my personal life, I wont be taking any more clients this month, if you already have things scheduled with me, I will not be canceling, and we are still on, but until I get things cleared up in my personal life, and figure a few things out, I wont be able to take on anymore clients until next month. Sorry guys.

However, if you want to discuss making plans for next month with me, feel free to visit the Contact Us page and pick your favorite form of contact!

Styling

Howdy!
So I know I said you could look up styling stuff on YouTube, but whatever, I will post two ideas, just to get it ya rolling.
So, without further ado:
#1
Ponytail
Obviously you should know how to put your hair in a ponytail using a hair elastic, but did you know you can use your dreads as a hair elastic? Simply take the two dreads that are directly at the base of your neck (usually there are two dreads directly beside each other at the base of your skull) and separate those from the rest of your hair. Then gather the rest of your dreads as if you were gonna put them in a pony tail, but instead of using an elastic, take the left dread (out of the two you separated) and wrap it up and around the left side of your pony tail while your holding the rest of the dreads, then take the right dread and do the same so the two are wrapped around. After this, simply tie the two dreads together in a bow or simple tie (don't double knot or you may have a permanent pony tail, lol) and voila! Ponytail.
#2
Braids
Really, I won't get into all the different kinds of braids cuz I could put you to sleep with all the different kinds, but braiding dreads are very easy. One warning, though, is if you leave your dreads in a braid (or any up do, for that matter) then you run the risk of creating weak spots in your dreadlocks, so don't go to sleep with your hair up, or leave it in for a while. If you intend to leave your hair up for long periods of time, just every once in a while take your hair down, shake it out, and redo the style again.
I'm not gonna keep going, simply because you really can do almost anything that normal hair can do, with the exception of tiny braids and long smooth hair (which comes with the territory of rough, knotted, thick dreads).

So Sorry

Hiya

Ok, I know I said I would do a daily post, but I forgot. Honestly, my personal life is going a little crazy, so I haven't really found time to sit down and write a post. I will try to get a post in every day, maybe every other day, but as I said, things are going crazy and I may forget to post.

Alright, now that my apology is out of the way, lets talk more indepth about dying dreadlocks!

First of all, I suggest using natural dyes like henna, but if you want something a lil' less natural, say a nice lime green or electric blue, or maybe you just wanna bleach your lovely locs (because henna hair dye tends to be in  more natural colors like brown and reddish.) then regular hair dye will do fine. I say try to stick to natural stuff because if you accidentally don't wash everything out of your dreads, it wont be detrimental to the health of your dreadlocks because natural = not so harmful.

I know a few different DIY natural hair dye recipes, and if you guys want me to post some, let me know in the comments below, k?

Now lets get to the dying/ bleaching process!!!!!
  1. First, mix all the ingredients for your hair dye or hair bleach
  2. Separate the dreadlocks that you wanna dye from the ones you dont wanna dye (if you are doing all your dreadlocks one color, then skip this part and move on to the next)
  3. Gently spread the dye along the dreadlock, focusing on the exterior of your dreadlock. Its not important to put the dye or bleach on the inside of your dreadlock, because its not like anyone is going to see the inside of it, right? If you are doing different colors, now is the time to take the locs that have different colors and put aluminum foil around them so that the different colors dont touch or bleed onto each other.
  4. Make sure all your color is even and to your liking, and then set your timer for the amount of time that the instructions for your dye/bleach tell you to.
  5. Wash your dreads THOROUGHLY!!!!!! Even when you think you are done washing, wash some more. WASH WASH WASH! I can not stress this enough. I learned this the hard way, because one time I bleached my dreadlocks and didn't wash it all out properly and I ended up having to brush and condition my dreads and consequently no longer had dreadlocks because the texture of my hair was like limp spaghetti. Not cool.
  6. Then, dry your dreadlocks with a dryer. You wanna dry your hair exceptionally well after dying or bleaching because the hair is delicate and fragile after being processed, and wet hair is more prone to breakage, so both the damage from the dye/bleach and the weakness of wet hair could be a recipe for disaster if not taken care of properly.

And that is it! If you guys have any questions or felt I didn't explain something properly, please let me know in the comments below, or feel free to email me.
